Just as Yellow stone fans boarded one last ride at Dutton Ranch, news broke that the wildly popular series is reportedly returning for a sixth season. It was originally set to end after Season 5, Part 2, but negotiations are currently underway for a sequel series that will focus on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).

Coming almost exactly two years after the first half of the season aired, Part 2 promises to be a dramatic culmination of years of conflict. That said, the upcoming season will likely revolve around John Dutton’s children, particularly the growing feud between Beth and Jamie. And with Kevin Costner set to not return for the final episodes, we can assume the focus will also shift toward the mysterious fate of their father.

Before the long-awaited premiere, Yellow stone star Cole Hauser revealed the show’s “complicated” ending during an interview about his new extension Free Rein Coffee. He also shared a behind-the-scenes look at the end of Season 5!

When asked to describe the upcoming season in three words, Hauser immediately joked, “Oh my god, this is way too complicated.” So you know it’s going to be a wild (west) ride from start to finish!

Hauser continued, saying, “Taylor (Sheridan) did an incredible job of taking a very complex story and wrapping it up as well as I think any writer can. There are a lot of different things going on.”

Of course, the potential end of what has quickly become a cable phenomenon also comes with a fair amount of emotion from the cast. Hauser gave a first look at the performances this season, saying, “I think Kelly’s acting is great. Luke Grimes has been great this year. I’ve worked with Wes a little bit. The cast is, I mean, I think one of the best casts I’ve ever worked with, but this year was very emotional and everyone was great. They did a great job.”

Fans will soon be saying “hello” to Hauser’s character, Rip — and hopefully, there will be many more adventures in store for him in the future. Yellow stone universe. Until then, stay up to date with everything Yellow stone watching popular prequels, sequels and spin-offs.
