Corteva Announces Pairwise Partnership

Corteva Agriscience announces partnership with technology company Pairwise to advance agriculture’s resilience to climate change.

Tom Greene, senior director and global leader of Corteva Catalyst, said the company’s $25 million equity investment will expand the reach of gene editing across a wide range of staple and specialty crops.

“And then it’s about how we continue to apply technology to deliver the features and concepts that are important to us as an organization. It’s really two-fold.”

He tells Brownfield there will be collaboration to develop gene-editing products that will be more resilient to extreme weather events and climate change.

“Whether it’s heat, lack of water, wind,” Greene said. “I think genome editing really gives us the opportunity to accelerate how we use our germplasm base.”

Greene says the joint venture with Pairwise will last five years.
