LAKE WOOD — Massillon and Lakewood St. Edward will face off tonight in the 2023 Battle of the High School Football Champions at Lakewood Stadium, with the game starting at 7 p.m.

St. Edward defeated Springfield 31-21 to win last year’s Division I state championship. Massillon defeated Hoban 7-2 to win the Division II title, the Tigers’ first state championship in the playoff era.

Massillon and Lakewood St. Edward Football Season in Brief

Massillon enters with a 3-1 record. The Tigers opened the season with a 35-20 victory over NFL Academy UK, crushed GlenOak 45-0, lost to Bergen Catholic 35-21 in their home opener and beat Canisius 41-7.

St. Edward also has a 3-1 record. The Eagles beat Pickerington North 28-0 and Saint Joseph’s Prep 35-21, lost to Boyle County 38-21 and defeated Elder 24-17.
