What are your chances of getting a ticket to see Coldplay? Find out here

INWith Coldplay’s much-anticipated ‘Music of the Spheres’ World Tour set to hit India in January 2024, fans are excited. The iconic band is returning to the country after almost a decade, with shows scheduled for January 18 and 19 at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. However, with just 50,000 seats available, competition for tickets is likely to be fierce. A viral analysis by ChatGPT has shed light on just how difficult it can be to get a ticket.

A viral post shared by ONDC CMO Tina Gurnaney on X recently analyzed the odds of scoring a Coldplay ticket using ChatGPT. Based on her assumptions, including an estimated 150,000 fans trying to book through BookMyShow, the initial odds were about 1 in 3. But the analysis didn’t stop there. Gurnaney factored in additional elements, such as fans who hadn’t formally expressed interest but still planned to buy tickets, and those who used multiple devices or accounts.

With these additional variables, the odds get slimmer, dropping to about 1 in 4.4, giving fans only a 22.7% chance of getting a seat at the concert. As more people join the race, the odds are likely to get slimmer still.

Since being shared, Gurnaney’s post has amassed over 1 lakh views and sparked a lively discussion among fans. While the basic odds were calculated using basic assumptions, users in the comments pointed out other factors that could make it even harder to get a ticket. For example, group tickets and the ability to buy up to eight tickets at once could drastically reduce the chances of individual buyers.

Some fans have compared this to previous high-profile events, such as the Diljit & Dua Lipa concerts, which sold out almost immediately. Given Coldplay’s immense popularity, expect the competition to be even fiercer.

Infinity Tickets: A Glimmer of Hope?

For fans looking for an alternative, Coldplay has introduced ‘Infinity Tickets’ priced at Rs 2,000. These special tickets give more fans a chance to attend the concert, but there’s a catch – the seating arrangements will only be revealed on the day of the event, adding to the mystery. Fans can buy a maximum of two Infinity Tickets, adding to the confusion.

In addition to the electrifying performance, Coldplay announced a special surprise guest for the India shows, which has fueled excitement among fans. While the band did not reveal who the guest might be, the announcement has only increased anticipation for the event.

Tickets for the Coldplay concert in Mumbai will go on sale on September 22, 2023 at 12:00 PM on BookMyShow. The number of available seats is expected to be well over 50,000, so fans are advised to act fast to increase their chances of getting tickets.

With Coldplay returning to India after nine years and the excitement of a surprise guest, the band’s January shows are shaping up to be a huge event. Will you be one of the lucky ones?
