Questlove’s Sly Stone documentary hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but the Roots drummer already knows which artist he’ll turn his camera on next: Earth, Wind & Fire.

Ironically, on September 21, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson took to social media to announce his next project on Saturday and revealed that the “ultimate elemental story” would arrive in 2025.

“The story of how a band led by a genius from Chicago changed our minds, our thoughts, and our hearts,” Questlove added. “After being baptized in the Afrocentric river of joy of this powerful entity, I learned about them, I learned about us, and more importantly, I learned and reinvented myself in the process.”

Oscar winner Summer of the Soul the documentarian added, “I am so excited to be directing a documentary that preserves their positive, yet VERY vulnerable and true story of Soul, Self and Struggle. It is a story of joy, perseverance, love, pain, magic and self-discovery. It is Earth, Wind and Fire.”

Earth, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White, Philip Bailey and Ralph Johnson are on board the project, the trio added in a statement (via Diversity), “We look forward to this in-depth journey for our team and are thrilled that Questlove will direct this documentary.”

Earlier this year, Questlove gave a progress report on the much-anticipated Sly Stone documentary, noting that Hulu had acquired the rights to the film but no release date had yet been set.
