DOT announces Bronx bridge and street closures for weekend of September 21-23

The New York City Department of Transportation has announced bridge and street closures for the following weekend: September 20 to September 22.

Manhattan/Bronx

Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River

The right lane in both directions will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the alternating center lane in both directions will be closed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The double lane in both directions will be closed Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. Alternating sidewalk closures will be in effect. These closures are necessary to facilitate the installation of steel, mechanical and electrical components and will continue through September 27.

Bronx

East 165th Street between Fox Street and Westchester Avenue/also known as the NYCTA Subway

The street will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday and from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday until September 22 due to main track repairs.

West 169th Street between Nelson Avenue and Shakespeare Avenue

The street will be closed from 7am to 6pm Monday through Friday, and likely Saturday and Sunday through October 15, for boom and concrete pump work.

East 176th Street between Anthony Avenue and East Tremont Avenue

The street will be closed from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday until October 11 to accommodate crane work.

East 180th Street between Park Avenue East and Park Avenue West

This street will be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday through Friday through October 7 for Con Ed infrastructure repairs, Contract # HBX 180

Ryer Avenue between East 180th Street and East Burnside Avenue

This street will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday until October 21 due to concrete pump and boom operation.

Carter Avenue between East 176th Street and East Tremont Avenue

The street will be closed from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday until October 11 to accommodate crane work.

Tiebout Avenue and East 187th Street and East 188th Street

The street will be closed from 9am to 4pm from Friday until October 31 to accommodate crane operations.

Inwood Avenue between West 169th Street and West Clarke Place

This street will be closed from 9am to 4pm Friday through October 1st due to the need to use concrete pumps, boom lifts and articulating boom lifts.

Grant Avenue between East 169th Street and East 170th Street

The street will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday until October 4 due to construction of Grant Park (contract X271-119M).

Weiher Courthouse between 3rd Avenue and Washington Avenue

The street will be closed from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday until September 20 for concrete pouring and construction work.

Glebe Avenue between Westchester Avenue and Lyon Avenue

The street will be closed from 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday until September 30 to accommodate crane work.

Furman Avenue between East 240th Street and East 241st Street

This street will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday until December 10 to accommodate the use of a concrete pump.

Jerome Avenue/Plaza Drive between Elliot Place and Marcy Place

This street will be closed from 9am to 2pm Monday through Friday until September 29 for construction work on the new building using a boom lift, knuckle boom and concrete pump.

Cruger Avenue between Sagamore Street and Bronxdale Avenue

This street will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday until September 27 due to work in zone C-35311 on the MTA contract and MP 6.

Mohegan Avenue between Hornaday Place and Bronx Park South

The street will be closed from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday until September 30 to accommodate crane work.

Bush Street between Grand Concourse and Creston Avenue

The street will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday until October 10 due to façade installation using a telehandler.

Cross the Bronx Expressway (I-95) between Arthur Avenue and Clay Avenue

Single-lane traffic will be closed in both directions Monday through Friday from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m., and two-lane traffic will be closed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., except on holidays. These closures are to facilitate renovations to the Webster Avenue, Metro-North Railroad, and Third Avenue bridges and will last until December 14, 2026.

Entrance ramp from Sheridan Boulevard (NY-895) southbound to Bruckner Expressway (I-278) westbound

This ramp will be closed through December 24 to facilitate the Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project. Trucks and buses should use the exit ramp to Edgewater Road/Hunts Point Market and follow detour signs and use the Leggett Avenue entrance ramp to the westbound Bruckner Expressway. Cars should use the temporary exit ramp to Whitlock Avenue and follow detour signs to the westbound Bruckner Expressway.

Grand Concourse Bridge over the Metro-North Railroad–Hudson Line between 151st and 153rd Streets

The northbound lanes will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following day, through Oct. 18, to facilitate steel repairs and utility work. The southbound lanes will be maintained with two lanes in each direction.

Hutchinson River Parkway between the East Tremont exit and the Pelham Parkway entrance

Single-lane traffic in both directions will be closed Monday through Friday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day, and dual-lane traffic will be closed from 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. through September 27 to accommodate painting of the Westchester Avenue Bridge.

Major Deegan Expressway (northbound) between Exit 3 and the entrance ramp north of East 138 Street

The right lane will become an exit-only lane on Exit 3 24/7. The additional lane will be closed Monday through Friday from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., and Sunday evenings from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate the replacement of the East 138th Street Bridge. A complete closure may occur Monday through Friday from noon to 5:00 a.m. for demolition and construction of the superstructure.

Major Deegan Expressway (southbound) between Exit 3 and the entrance ramp south of East 138th Street

The right lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. The additional lane will be closed Monday through Friday from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., and Sunday evenings from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning until March 3, 2025 to facilitate the replacement of the East 138th Street Bridge. Southbound exit traffic onto the 138th Street Bridge will be closed Monday through Friday from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Friday from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning, Saturday from 11:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. the following morning, and Sunday from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning to facilitate the water main connection.

Pelham Bay Bridge

Northbound single-lane traffic will be closed Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Single-lane traffic in both directions will be closed Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate repairs to the truss structure below the deck and will last until November 1.

Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River

Single-lane northbound traffic will be closed Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Single-lane traffic in both directions will be closed Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate maintenance work and will last until October 11. One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times.

2024 (NYRR) New Balance Bronx 10 Mile

The following streets will be closed on Sunday, September 22 in conjunction with the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile (NYRR) 2024, as determined by the New York Police Department in the Bronx:
