‘I swore to her I would never leave’ on his split from Sofia Vergara after her ‘groundbreaking’ statement

Celebrity couple Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello shocked fans by announcing their split after seven years of marriage in 2023. While the couple attributed their divorce to irreconcilable differences, Vergara later suggested that their differing views on having children were a contributing factor to their divorce.

Manganiello, however, denied these claims in a subsequent interview, emphasizing that he promised to support Vergara in every situation and never had anything against her decision not to have children.

Joe Manganiello dismisses Sofia Vergara’s claims of their split

Following the announcement of their separation, Sofia Vergara weighed in on the factors that contributed to her split from Joe Manganiello, sharing that while her ex-husband wanted children, she didn’t want to be “old mom.”

“I didn’t want to be an old mom. I think it’s unfair to the child. I respect anyone who does it, but it’s not for me anymore” she told El Pais. The discovery sparked widespread media interest and public scrutiny of Manganiello.

However, Pure blood the star rejected her claims, stating, “That’s simply not true.” In an interview with Men’s Journal, he said they discussed their views on having children and he assured her he would support her decision.

If you’re done with kids, I understand. Just tell me, and I’ll know what that is, and that’s fine. But it wasn’t like that with her. And I swore to her that I’d never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t.

Although he admitted that he wanted to have children and initially they tried to start a family, he also stressed that he respected Griselda the star’s decision not to have children.

Joe Manganiello Expresses Frustration Over Misrepresentation of His Divorce

Further speaking to Men’s Journal, Joe Manganiello admitted that there was more to his divorce from Sofia Vergara than was hinted at in her interview.

He stressed that rather than struggling to decide whether or not to have children, the couple had simply drifted apart, suggesting that the spark that once connected them had fizzled out.

“It’s because two people have grown apart, and that happens sometimes.” he said. The actor also expressed how the misrepresentation of their split had damaged his public image, portraying him as someone who pressured his wife into making drastic decisions.

To be portrayed as someone who went through a midlife crisis and nine years later gave someone an ultimatum: “Do this potentially unhealthy thing with your body or I’m leaving”? I was never like that.

The couple finalized their divorce in April 2024 and have since moved on. Vergara is now dating orthopedic surgeon Dr. Justin Saliman, while Manganiello is in a relationship with actress-model Caitlin O’Connor.
