Sean “Diddy” Combs once felt God sent him Cassie to save Bad Boy Records

Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie were business partners before they became a couple. Diddy took the young artist under his wing and credited her with saving his record label when it needed saving.

Cassie initially managed to generate buzz around her music without the support of Bad Boy Records. When she was an aspiring singer, she posted her song “Me and You” on the old social media platform Myspace. “Me and You” gained such a huge following that Diddy eventually heard it in a club. He immediately wanted to know who was behind the burgeoning song.

She was eventually discovered by Ryan Leslie, who convinced her that music, rather than modeling, might be her calling.

“I met Ryan and we recorded like five records and it was just for fun. Then it turned into, ‘Let’s do some demos, you know, let’s put some music out,’ put it on Myspace. And that’s how it went, it was really very organic,” she told The Urban Daily in 2007.

It was through Leslie that Cassie eventually connected with Diddy. During their time together, Cassie has admitted that she learned a lot from Diddy as a mentor.

“He was always great at giving advice,” she said. “In the beginning, with the first album, everything was happening so fast and I was moving so fast and jumping from country to country that I never really had a chance to talk to him. We just signed and went on tour. Up until now, when we were talking about the last three or four years and how I automatically changed and stuff, he said that patience is what helps. If you really put in the time, wait, work hard, observe and learn, just put in the time, and at the end of the day everything will work out because your time will come.”

Bad Boys didn’t just change Cassie’s circumstances. Cassie also had an impact on Bad Boys itself. According to Diddy, many believed the record label’s popularity had begun to wane over the years. However, Bad Boy artists like Cassie came along and helped rejuvenate her health.

“God sent me two new artists, Cassie and Yung Joc,” Diddy once said, according to the Irish Examiner. “I have two top 10 albums, and on the rhythm chart we have a No. 1 and a No. 2 album with Cassie and Yung Joc. There have been times in the last few years when the industry has written us off, and now it’s the big week. We’re the only boutique label still standing.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie quickly found themselves in a relationship

Cassie and Diddy first went public with their relationship in 2012. However, the romance between them had been going on since 2007. According to court documents, even Diddy’s efforts to court Cassie may have foreshadowed their chaotic relationship.

The Guardian reports that Diddy aggressively harassed the singer, forcing Cassie to kiss him at the age of 21.saint birthday. Since then, the two have become a couple that has had more than their fair share of ups and downs. It was only recently that Cassie revealed the abuse she endured while with the music mogul.

Cassie claimed that despite how long they were together, marriage was never an option.

“You know what’s cool about Puff is that he’s there and he wants to understand marriage,” Cassie once told Hot 97. “But we have, you know, a certain type of relationship and it just works the way it works.”

“I believe in marriage in the right situation,” she added. “But I’ve seen a lot of people who got married and broke up in a relationship like mine, you know what I mean? You can’t really categorize it. Of course, everyone sees marriage as something solid and important.”
