Daniel Dubois KOs Anthony Joshua to Defend IBF Title

Daniel Dubois scored a dominant victory in the fifth round of his highly anticipated IBF heavyweight title fight against Anthony Joshua.

The bout, which was themed around the Riyadh season, lived up to expectations as the 27-year-old Dubois immediately set the tone with a series of powerful jabs, signalling his clear intentions from the outset.

Dubois started aggressively, landing a powerful right hook early in the fight that dropped Joshua to his knees.

Known as “Dynamite,” Dubois knocked Joshua down twice more before the fourth round ended.

Referee Steve Gray finally stopped the fight after Dubois landed two powerful right hooks, sending Joshua to the canvas.

The defeat is the fourth of Joshua’s career.

Anthony Joshua’s career record

According to ESPN, Joshua is a two-time former WBO, IBF and WBA heavyweight champion.

The 34-year-old first held the titles from March 2018 to July 2019. The British boxer later regained the three belts with a unanimous points victory over Andy Ruiz Jr. in December 2019.

Joshua’s second unified title reign lasted until September 2021, when he was defeated by Oleksandr Usyk at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He faced Usyk again in a rematch that ended in another loss.

Joshua revived his title hopes with four straight wins, including a devastating knockout victory over Francis Ngannou.

The 34-year-old won his first world title in April 2016, knocking out Charles Martin in the second round.

He also won a gold medal in the super heavyweight division at the 2012 Summer Olympics, representing Great Britain.

Adesanya predicts Joshua victory

Legit.ng It was previously reported that UFC fighter Israel Adesanya had placed a huge bet on the heavyweight title fight between British boxers Joshua and Dubois.

The Last Stylebender predicted Joshua would win the fight between rounds 10 and 12.

He shared a photo of him and Joshua and a screenshot of his stake, with a caption referencing the Yoruba deity Ògún, the god of iron.
