Nick Knowles, the famous face behind the popular BBC show DIY SOS, has often appeared in the headlines for more than just his presenting talent.

His love life, full of ups and downs, has kept him in the spotlight almost as long as his television work.

Nick, now 60 and a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, seems to finally be ready for a long-term relationship after getting engaged to Katie Dadzie.

This is not Nick’s first high-profile romance, however, as his love life is full of turbulent romances, disappointments and public controversies.

Engagement with Katie Dadzie

Nick Knowles has apparently found lasting happiness with his fiancée, Katie Dadzie. Their relationship has attracted considerable attention due to their 27-year age difference.

The couple met in 2021 when Katie’s daughters befriended Nick’s youngest son, Eddie, at a playgroup.

Since then, their relationship has grown stronger and stronger, culminating in Nick proposing to her during his trip to the US where he was shooting a film.

A close friend of the couple confirmed the engagement, saying: “They are so in love and absolutely adore each other. Katie is over the moon that Nick has popped the question.”

Despite some public criticism over their age difference, Katie, 33, has publicly defended their relationship.

She shared that while they maintain separate homes, they are deeply committed to each other. Katie also noted that their age difference does not affect their dynamic, as they both lead independent but fulfilling lives.

The engagement heralds a happy ending for Nick, who has had a tumultuous love story.

Nick Knowles and Gillian’s first marriage ended abruptly after a shocking affair.

The couple, who married in the 1990s, have two children: Tuesday, now 25, and Charlie, now 24.

However, their marriage was rocked by Nick’s alleged infidelity with beautician Paula Beckett-Vass, which resulted in the birth of his third child, Tyrian-J, who is also now 24.

The affair led to a bitter split between Nick and Gillian when their children were toddlers, kicking off a series of high-profile but often turbulent relationships for the TV presenter.

After splitting from Gillian, Nick found solace with his City Hospital co-star Suzi Perry.

The two quickly moved in together after Suzi’s marriage to Steve Bullock ended. Despite an intense start, their relationship fell apart after a few years.

Reflecting on their time together, Suzi praised Nick, saying: “I have so much respect for Nick. He’s like my dad, strong and smart. I’ve learned so much from him professionally, he’s a great mate and we have so much fun.

Nick’s second marriage to Jessica Rose Moore was filled with love and later public conflict. The couple began dating in 2009 and married in an intimate ceremony in Rome in 2012.

Nick, then 49, and Jessica, 26 years his junior, seemed like the perfect couple, and the pair even started a company together in 2013. They also welcomed a son, Eddie, in 2014.

However, in 2016, cracks began to appear in their relationship and the couple decided to split, leading to one of Nick’s most public and bitter breakups.

Shortly after their split, Nick had a brief but highly publicised romance with Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten.

Still, Nick rushed back to Jessica when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer later that year, and the two briefly reconciled. Their reunion didn’t last long, and they ended things for good in December 2016.

The divorce quickly took an ugly turn when Jessica accused Nick of going back on a promise to send Eddie to private school and refusing to pay her legal fees, and their dispute was aired on social media.

During his split from Jessica Rose Moore in 2016, Nick briefly dated Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten.

According to reports, the gentlemen met in September of the same year at the TV Choice Awards and there was a spark between them.

Nick quickly whisked Gemma away on a romantic trip to Edinburgh, and the pair were seen enjoying romantic dinners and exploring the city.

However, when photos of the two of them appeared in the media, Nick distanced himself from their relationship, leaving Gemma completely taken aback.

She later expressed regret over their brief romance, telling the Sunday Mirror: “I regret ever meeting Nick because it’s haunted me ever since.”

She compared Nick to another former partner, saying both men were “egotistical” and difficult to be around.

“He’s a lot like (Gemma’s other ex) Scott Walker, they’re both very selfish men. It was impossible to be around them.”

In 2018, Nick Knowles found himself at the centre of another romantic controversy when former TOWIE star Pascal Craymer claimed they had a series of “embarrassing” dates at the luxury Corinthia Hotel in London.

Pascal also claimed the pair met three times, including in the evening at DSTRKT nightclub and for dinner at private members club Little House.

Pascal, however, found Nick’s behavior increasingly strange and called it a clear “midlife crisis.”

Despite her claims, a source close to Nick called Pascal’s version of events “crazy.”

Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that Nick had begun dating Rebecca Kearns, a marketing executive who was 30 years his junior.

However, their relationship lasted only eight months before they decided to part ways.

Nick explained that the decision to end their relationship was due to his desire to focus on his son Eddie, who lived with his ex-wife Jessica in the Cotswolds.

He shared, “The three-month forced break was one of the best things that happened to me in my life. I feel better now than I have in the last 20 years, just spending some time getting to know myself before I jump back into the fray.”

In an interview with the Mail, Nick expanded on this, saying: “I’m not interested in dating, I’m more interested in spending time with my son in the country.”

Despite this, just months later, Nick was seen getting close to PR executive Emily Hallinan, who was then 26. They dated for about a year before calling it quits in early 2020.

Reflecting on that period, Nick told The Sun: “There are times in life when you’re with someone and there are times when you’re not. And being single can be a really positive thing.”
