His wife of 17 years, Penny, looked just as good as she followed the singer to his waiting car

His wife of 17 years, Penny, seemed in equally good spirits as she followed the singer to his waiting car.

The former model looked elegant in a patterned dress in pink, black and turquoise.

She added a few inches to her height with black, pointy high-heeled shoes and completed her look with a small, black handbag.

The pair proudly marched to the waiting car. They seemed tired as they got in and drove off.

Penny was spotted scrolling through her phone while Rod looked out the window as they headed home.

The couple are said to be desperately working on their 17-year marriage after the singer backed out of plans to sell his $74 million Beverly Hills mansion and move back to the UK.

Rod was believed to be reluctant to leave Los Angeles, while Penny, 53, was reluctant to stay in the US despite Rod extending his stay in Las Vegas and rejecting two offers to take over their sprawling estate.

The icon stated that he and Penny “couldn’t be more in love” and insisted that there is “absolutely no conflict between them”, despite claims that they argued over the move.

Last month, Rod and Penny were reportedly working on their marriage after the singer backed out of plans to sell his $74 million Beverly Hills mansion

Sharing an update on Instagram, he wrote: “We wanted to clear things up. There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I and no disagreements about where we should live, quite the opposite.

“We moved permanently to our beloved UK a year ago, but we are lucky to have homes in other countries that we enjoy visiting.”

Rod continued: “Initially we thought it made sense to sell our house in Los Angeles, but after spending a wonderful summer there with family and friends while I was in Vegas, we realized it made sense to keep our house there. My two oldest children still live at Celtic House (a mansion in Los Angeles).

‘Penny and I couldn’t be more in love after 27 wonderful years. Please trust me on this…there is no disharmony in our marriage. Rod ‘a very happy man’ Stewart.’
