The incident occurred after riots broke out outside the jummah prayer at the mosque on Friday, in which more than 50 people were injured.

According to media sources, Ruhul Amin had been in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5.

After a six-week break, on Friday he went with his faithful to the mosque for Jummah prayer.

At that time, the supporters of the current Khatib resisted the supporters of Ruhul Amin. Then a fight broke out between the two sides.
