The fifth season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been controversial since Gary King was accused of sexually harassing a female production crew member.

The accusations surfaced last summer, after Gary had already filmed the fifth season of the popular sailing show.

Gary was soon removed from BravoCon, but the fan event confirmed that Below Deck Sailing Yacht would be getting a Season 5.

Fans have been waiting for months for news about Season 5, and this week it finally arrived with a trailer that included a premiere date.

As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans had mixed feelings about Gary’s return in the wake of the scandal.

Gary, however, cleared things up and defended his fourth appearance on the Below Deck series.

When the news broke that Gary, Daisy Kelliher and Captain Glenn Shephard were returning for another season, everyone took to social media to post about it.

Gary shared a new official cast photo and caption promoting his return.

“Well I guess the news is out. This is what you’ve all been waiting for I’m back! Who’s excited for this season? Season 5 of #belowdecksailingYacht premieres Monday, October 7th on @bravotv,” he wrote in the caption.

It didn’t take long for the comments section to be flooded with responses, most of which came from people excited about Gary’s return.

One commenter addressed the accusations, writing, “Um, what about the sexual assault allegations by a production crew member…?”

Shortly after, Gary, who often responds to comments on his Instagram posts whether they are good or bad, had something to say about the allegations made against him.

“mate, there are people who say the earth is flat, this girl wanted 15 minutes of fame and lied. End of story,” Gary replied.

During the exchange, another critic expressed hope that Gary was not lying about the scandal or what happened.

Gary got straight to the point, saying, “I’m not lying.”

This isn’t the first time Gary has shared that the accusations against him were false. Gary recently shared an update on the situation, claiming that his accuser was a liar, which has been proven.

Neither Bravo nor 51 Minds, the production company behind the Below Deck sailing yacht, have issued an official statement regarding the investigation into the allegations against Gary.

In addition to defending his return, Gary briefly spoke about the upcoming season.

Another user admitted he was disappointed that Colin MacRae would not be breaking up the trio of Gary, Colin and Daisy who helped make the sailing show a success.

“I would love to see this trio back, but I can assure you this season will still be exciting,” Gary wrote.
