‘I’m Down, I’m Down’ – Our Hearts Are Beating As Kylie Minogue Announces New Album And Australian Tour

‘I’m Down, I’m Down’ – Our Hearts Are Beating As Kylie Minogue Announces New Album And Australian Tour

Australia’s favourite, Kylie Minogue, heads to Australia for her biggest tour in a decade.

“We’re starting in Australia, which is amazing,” a smiling Minogue told ABC News Breakfast.

The singer will go on tour in early February next year, with 20 concerts planned.

“There are still more dates to be announced, it all needs to be organised somehow,” she revealed.

The Australian summer has prompted Minogue to embark on a tour in her home country.

“Were we going to try and start somewhere in the middle of winter, or maybe in the summer and come back home?”

She said the answer was simple, much to the delight of her Australian fans.

It’s an understatement that news of her tour and new album has everyone excited – including the princess of pop herself!

“We’ve been working on this for months and months and months, so I’m glad we can finally share it with everyone.”

Minogue’s seven-date Australian tour is set to kick off in Perth (February 15), then visit Adelaide (February 18), Melbourne (February 20-21), Brisbane (February 26) and conclude in Sydney (March 1-2).

What to expect from the tour – favourites and new additions

“I love touring,” Minogue said with a laugh.

Choosing a track list with such a rich legacy is no easy task.

“That’s just the hardest part of any tour, what’s the tracklist going to be?” Minogue wondered.

Three albums, which have not yet been performed on tour, give the star plenty of choice.

“I feel like I’ve been doing quite a few tours and greatest hits shows lately… so I’m excited to have some of this new material.

“Of course I’ll have the biggest hits, but I already know I’ll leave room for some weirdness,” Minogue said.

“Positive and joyful” – this is the mood he wants to achieve during his live performances.

“I want people to feel that through the show and the music,” Minogue added.

Popularity of Padams

A similar atmosphere was achieved in the hit Padam Padam from her latest album.

“I didn’t mean to,” Minogue laughed.

“It was amazing, mind-blowing and life-changing.

“Padam did it for me,” she said.

It was this song that restored her popularity, adding a whole new audience to the legion of fans the pop star already had.

“I just kept working hard and kept trying to be successful, and then every now and then it all comes together and creates a good moment for you.”

The tension of a hot sequel

But the fun doesn’t end there.

While Tension continues to warm us up, Minogue keeps the magic going with follow-up Tension II.

“I think we did it that way,” Minogue began, recalling the story behind the album.

“As often happens with albums… we just had more and more songs. So we thought, well, maybe more is more.”

The first song on the new album is titled Lights, Camera, Action and starts with a cheerful “that’s it!” followed by a rhythm.

Fans will be able to listen to the entire new song on September 27th, with the full album set to drop on October 18th.

If you can’t wait, there’s a little teaser on Minogue’s social media to tide you over until the song drops.

“It’s pretty hypnotic. It’s a ton of fun and you’ll probably just be popping in Lights, Camera Action, to put it generally, from now on,” she added.

“I’m sorry, but you’re welcome, no matter how you look at it,” Minogue said with a laugh.

And to that we respond – lights, camera, action, Minogue gives us more.

Ticket pre-sale will begin on September 24 for Telstra Plus members, September 26 for Frontier members, with general sale beginning on October 2.
