Pedro Pascal Teases His Role as Troubled Roman General in New ‘Gladiator 2’ Trailer

A new trailer has been released for Gladiator 2. The film, which is set to premiere on November 22, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year and features an all-star cast of Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington. The new trailer has been released, showing off a bit more of each character’s backstory, including the Roman general Pascal, who seems to be more complex than the simple antagonist of protagonist Mescal.

The new trailer shows Mescal and Pascal taking part in a Roman battle, with both dressed in full armor. Many fight scenes have been teased, including a naval battle in the Colosseum known as the Naumachia, one of the most exciting events for fans of the series and history buffs.

In Pascal’s case, he appears multiple times throughout the clip, showing much more depth than your average villain. “I take this city for the glory of Rome,” he says after winning the battle, his face covered in grime and his tone dispassionate.

“Gladiator 2” follows Lucius, the son of Maximus, the main character of the first film, as he seeks revenge on Rome after everything is taken from him. Pascal plays the Roman general Marcus Acacius, who trained under Maximus in his youth. You can watch the full trailer below.

Pascal’s Exciting List of Upcoming Projects

Pascal has been incredibly busy since his star turn in The Last of Us. This year, he was announced as Mr. Fantastic in The Fantastic Four: First Steps , which seems to be the Marvel project that will anchor the next phase of their cinematic universe. The film is set to premiere in 2025, kicking off a slew of new and big projects for Marvel. Depending on its success, Pascal could reprise the role in two more films, including Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Was .
