Apple Shares iOS 18.1 Beta 5 as Public Launch Approaches

Apple today is rolling out iOS 18.1 beta 5 to developers as we work toward our October public release. iOS 18.1 brings the first wave of Apple Intelligence features to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 users.

iOS 18.1 beta 5 came six days after the release of iOS 18.1 beta 4.

iOS 18.1 beta 5 has a build number of 24B5055e. The update is currently only available to developer beta testers. Apple released the first public beta of iOS 18.1 last week and will likely release another build later this week.

iOS 18.1 introduces the first wave of Apple Intelligence features, including Writing Tools for rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text. Siri has been completely redesigned and now includes the option to type in queries. The Mail app gains new features like message summaries, priority sorting, and Smart Reply. iOS 18.1 also introduces a new Focus mode called Reduce Interruptions, which uses AI to prioritize notifications that require immediate attention.

Apple has been gradually adding new Apple Intelligence features throughout the iOS 18.1 beta cycle. iOS 18.1 beta 3, released last month, expanded Notification Summaries to all notifications and added a new Cleanup feature to the Photos app.

During its iPhone 16 event earlier this month, Apple confirmed that iOS 18.1 and the first Apple Intelligence features will debut in October.
