Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi to Star in Emerald Fennell’s ‘Wuthering Heights’

Oscar winner Emerald Fennell’s highly anticipated adaptation of Wuthering Heights just got a whole lot bigger with the addition of Oscar nominee Margot Robbie and BAFTA nominee Jacob Elordi as Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff.

MRC has tapped LuckyChap to produce the upcoming feature film — written, directed and executive produced by Fennell, based on Emily Brontë’s iconic romantic novel. It marks LuckyChap and Fennell’s third collaboration after Promising Young Woman and Saltburn. (Fennell also starred in LuckyChap’s $1.4 billion-grossing, Oscar-winning Barbie , which Robbie produced and starred in.)

More from Variety

Wuthering Heights is in pre-production, preparing to shoot in the UK in 2025.

Fennell announced her plans to adapt Wuthering Heights as her third feature film in July, posting a surprise announcement on social media with a graphic that read, “Be with me always — Take any form — Drive me crazy,” a line from the novel. At the time, all that was known was that the filmmaker would be reuniting with MRC, the studio behind her racy psychological thriller Saltburn . With Robbie, Elordi and LuckyChap joining, many of the lead actors from Saltburn have officially reunited for the new film.

Robbie will next be seen in Kogonada’s “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” which opens in May 2025, while LuckyChap’s (which she co-founded with Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara) latest film, “My Old Ass,” is already in theaters and the company’s first foray into theater, the off-Broadway play “The Big Gay Jamboree,” recently premiered. Elordi will next star in “The Narrow Road to the Deep North,” directed by Justin Kurzell, and Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein.”

Robbie is repped by Entertainment 360, CAA, Aran Michael Management, attorney Jeff Bernstein and Narrative. Elordi is repped by Gersh. Fennell is repped by UTA and Entertainment 360.

Deadline was the first to report on Robbie, Elordi, and LuckyChap’s involvement in the project.
