Cheryl Secretly Regrets Ashley Cole

The end of a major chapter in life can leave anyone feeling nostalgic, and Cheryl was no different after her recent Girls Aloud Reunion tour wrapped up. According to insiders, the singer is feeling a bit lost right now and has even been reminiscing about her marriage to Ashley Cole.

Cheryl, 41, and Ashley, 43, tied the knot in 2006, but the fairytale was cut short by cheating allegations and she filed for divorce in 2010.

Now, 14 years later, the news that Ashley has a new role as full-time England coach has Cheryl nostalgically reminiscing about the good times they spent together. And while she couldn’t be happier as a mum to seven-year-old son Bear, sources say the Parachute singer can’t stop wondering what if.

“Cheryl is at a crossroads in her life — now that the tour is over, she’s really wondering what to do next,” an insider tells Us . “Of course, Bear is her priority and she loves being a parent, but he’s back in school and has all his extracurricular activities, so sometimes it feels lonely.”

The source continued: “She’s really had a lot of time to think about her old life with the girls and the news that Ashley has joined the FA as England manager has taken her back to when she was with him and he was playing for his country.”

When Cheryl and Ashley started dating in 2004, they were two of the most famous stars in the UK: she as one fifth of Girls Aloud, and Ashley as one of the country’s top footballers.

But less than two years later, her world came crashing down when hairdresser Aimee Walton accused her of having sex with Ashley, and Cheryl wrote in her 2012 memoir that she screamed at Ashley that the marriage was “over.” She took him back, but the couple finally split for good in 2010 after it was claimed he had cheated on her with four other women.

Cheryl was married to French businessman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini for two years, and had Bear with 1D’s Liam Payne in 2017. Cheryl and Liam split in 2018 and she has been single since, while Ashley has been in a relationship with his wife, Italian model Sharon Canu, for 10 years, with whom he has two children.

The insider adds: “Cheryl has long since gotten over her heartbreak and is happy that Ashley has found happiness, but in some ways she always felt like her future was with him and has spent years wondering what their life could have been like. She knows she wouldn’t have Bear if things had turned out differently with Ashley – but she just feels like she can’t escape her past.”
