Mary J. Blige Says Her Growing Romance Is ‘Going Well’ Thanks to Self-Love

Mary J. Blige has been busy on press tours promoting the show’s final season Book of Power II: Spirits. This the award-winning legend appeared on Sherri Show to discuss the fourth season and give fans a glimpse into how her mysterious romance unfolds.

Shepherd asked the actress if she was seeing anyone new, to which she replied, “You know, Sherri, everyone knows,” Blige replied. “Yes.” No more dramas the artist added that the relationship was “developing well.”

“I feel good about myself. I look good FOR MYSELF. I feel good FOR MYSELF. And yes, I embrace myself. So when you embrace yourself, everything embraces you. When you want you, everything wants you. Everything is good,” Blige explained.

The 53-year-old added that everything is going well in the relationship, but I will not hold anyone responsible for the fact that I enjoy it,” she said.

In the interview, Blige, who very publicly divorced her longtime ex-husband Kendu Isaacs in 2018, also said the tragedy taught her about forgiveness.

“I learned that forgiveness was for me,” she told host Shepherd. “So forgive me when I say, ‘To hell with them.’”

The Grammy Award-winning artist continued, “I don’t like that ugly, bitter feeling because it’s not mine. It belongs to you. You did what you did. But I have to move on and in order to feel good and manifest all the good things in my life, I have to let go for myself. Not for you, this is not for you. Trust me, this is not for you, this is for me.”

Isaacs and Blige married in 2003, and he was her manager at the time. However, after about 12 years of marriage, they decided to end their relationship due to irreconcilable differences and Isaacs allegedly cheating and stealing from Blige. The singer was also ordered to pay her ex-husband $30,000 in alimony. As a result, the singer had to go back on tour to recoup the money and pay the alimony.

This Muddy actress knows how to turn lemons into lemonade. Her divorce saga inspired her 2017 album, Strength of a Woman.

Blige revealed she was in a relationship with her mystery man during an interview with V-103’s Big Tigger in January 2024.We are happy to see her happy and blossoming after going through so much adversity.
