Adam Brody Reveals Secret of His 10-Year Marriage to Leighton Meester: ‘Choose Someone Good’

“Fall in love with someone who’s great, and then just listen to them,” the “Nobody Wants This” star said

Adam Brody made the right choice by marrying Leighton Meester.

On Tuesday, September 24th Third Party Liability graduate, 44 years old, appeared on Today with Hoda and Jenna to promote your new series on Netflix, Nobody wants that.

While discussing the romantic comedy starring Kristen Bell, Hoda Kotb, and Jenna Bush, Hager prompted his guest to talk about his own long-term relationship.

“We should point out that you’ve been married for 10 years,” Hoda, 60, said, before asking Brody: “What’s the magic of your relationship?”

“Oh, pick someone good. Get lucky and fall in love with someone who’s great, and then just listen to them,” he replied.

His response apparently hit a nerve with 42-year-old Bush Hager, who added: “I like that.”

“If you’re with someone great, you’re on third base,” Brody continued. “Not that it doesn’t take sacrifice and humility, you have to grow together and you have to be willing to grow because you’re not going to be able to stay 100 percent where you are. But if you’re with someone great, I think you’re on third base.”

Beards and Gossip Girl star, 38, married in 2014. Since then, the couple has welcomed two children — daughter Arlo, 9, and a son, 4, whose name has not yet been revealed.

While on TodayBrody also discussed his and Meester’s parenting style, and whether he was a helicopter dad or more of a “free-range” dad.

“Of course, I’ll feel like it’s the perfect balance of everything,” he said, speaking of there being a little bit of both.

Brody admitted that he and Meester are “honest” and “have very honest conversations” with their children, “through thick and thin.” But he still doesn’t believe he or his wife can be called “too strict.”

“You know, there’s a helicopter to protect them,” he said. “I’m not being too strict, but I see sharp edges, literally. And their heads won’t be… I want those heads to be in good shape.”

Last week, Brody appeared on Dax Shepard’s September 16 episode Armchair Expert podcast in which he shared his insights into the dynamics of his working relationship with Meester.

“Everything is connected,” he said.

“We’re each other’s managers and we also have the same two agents… We’re into each other’s s— in that way, and we even did a movie together a few years ago,” Brody continued, referring to the pair’s 2023 adventure thriller Wild River.

He described his wife as “charmingly indifferent to the business,” noting that the longtime actress sometimes doesn’t know the names of major stars. Still, Brody says, “that doesn’t detract from her art.”

“She is a poet, she has a depth and a sense of subject matter that always inspires her, and she has a great radar,” he added, praising her talent.

Nobody wants that Premiering on Netflix on September 26.
