Dancing with the Stars’ Anna Delvey criticised for saying she won’t take ‘anything’ from show

Anna Delvey was one of the first contestants eliminated in season 33 Dancing with the starsand fans heavily criticized her for her attitude after her short participation in the program.

After 33-year-old Anna and her partner, Ezra Sosawere eliminated in the Tuesday, September 24 episode, hosts Julianne Hough asked the impostor what she wanted to take away from the show. “Nothing,” she replied bluntly.

While Ezra, 23, seemed visibly shocked by Anna’s comment, Julianne, 36, laughed before closing the episode.

Shortly after Anna’s elimination was revealed, several fans took to social media to criticize her for her attitude. “Rude, entitled, condescending, disgusting to begin with. I feel sorry for the people she scammed out of money,” one person wrote of the comment via X. Another chimed in, “She’s horrible. This is a ‘let’s makeover’ project that was doomed to fail.”

“She should have never been on this show, glad we got rid of her,” a third social media user wrote, while another person sarcastically called Anna a “true witch.”

The backlash continued as another viewer said, “I’m glad she’s back home! Plus she just showed everyone once again what kind of PERSON she is.”

Meanwhile, others said they felt sorry for Ezra when he was paired up with her. “I feel sorry for her partner, what a spoiled man!” another person added.

The Russian-born actress first came into the spotlight when she was arrested in 2019 for posing as a German socialite and extorting money from her wealthy peers. Anna was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison, but was released early for good behavior in February 2021. She is currently under house arrest as she fights to avoid deportation, and Anna is required to wear a monitoring bracelet on her ankle — which she showed off on the show.

Fans likely won’t be surprised by the negative reaction, as viewers have previously criticized the show for its casting of Anna.

“Anna Delvey on this show is such a joke. Seriously, you couldn’t find anyone else to cast? An ankle bracelet? Wtf, I’m sorry, but if she was a minority she wouldn’t have been cast,” one person wrote after her casting. Another added, “Anna Delvey should NEVER have been cast on this show. They’ve been looking for ‘stars’ at the bottom for years, but giving this person a platform is disgusting.”

Another social media user said they were “offended that @officialdwts cast Anna Delvey” on the show because “she is a fraud and a criminal.”

Besides Anna and Ezra, Tori Spelling and her partner, Pasha Pashkovwere also eliminated. Unlike Anna, the 51-year-old Beverly Hills, 90210 alum had a much more positive outlook on her short time on the show.

“It was a truly amazing journey and experience,” Tori said. Us Weekly after her elimination. “Of course, I felt like I was just starting out and I saw such a huge change in myself, physically and mentally (and) emotionally. I wanted to continue, of course, but I’m grateful that I did.”
