Mary Cosby looks back on her experiences ahead of her 26th wedding anniversary.

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City The 51-year-old star, who celebrates her wedding anniversary with husband Robert Cosby Sr. on September 28, shares some of her favorite moments from the couple’s special day.

“My favorite memory is a restaurant we went to,” Cosby tells PEOPLE. “We got married at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago. We went to a restaurant called The Pump Room, which had big, high chairs, and some lady was playing the piano and singing ‘Time After Time’ by Cyndi Lauper. And I mean, it just spoke to me.”

“It was so good, I’ll never forget that moment. I’ll never forget that day,” Cosby continued. “I felt like I was doing the Lord’s will. I felt like I was in His divine will. And there’s no feeling like that. Money can’t buy that. And that’s the memory I have of us doing that, of us getting married.”

During the first season of the Bravo show, Cosby revealed that her marriage was “arranged” and opened up about the history of her relationship with Robert Sr. — her late grandmother’s second husband.

“I always say, ‘There is beauty in all my mess.’ The truth is, I am married to my grandmother’s second husband, who was my step-grandfather,” she said during her confession.

Mary explained that after her grandmother’s death, her inheritance was dependent on her consent to marry Robert Sr.

“Before she left, she made it clear to me that she wanted me to take her place in the church and inherit everything,” said Cosby, who is Pentecostal. “That included houses, money, our church, and also marrying her husband.”

“Don’t think it wasn’t weird, because it was!” she added.

The couple now have a son, Robert Junior, who is in his 20s and occasionally appears on reality shows.

Noting the longevity of their relationship and the circumstances surrounding their marriage, Cosby adds, “If I can keep my husband that long, especially a step-grandfather, you know that’s out. I’m happy… Because he’s my best friend. And I did it because I felt like my grandmother wanted me to, and I just trusted her so much that I did it because I didn’t want to do it.”

“But today I am grateful that I did it. I am happy because I did it, and I am blessed because I did it, and everything beautiful that I have in my life, including my son, is because of my marriage,” she added.

As for what she appreciates about her significant other, Cozy told PEOPLE magazine that she loves Robert Sr.’s work ethic and the way he treats her.

“I love that Robert is a hard worker,” she said. “He’s not lazy. He’s a bishop and he lives by that. I love that he respects me, and I respect him. He takes pleasure in buying me gifts and he buys me the most beautiful things… I wouldn’t even look at them if he hadn’t found them and given them to me. I love that about him. And I love our friendship. We have a really genuine, good, healthy friendship. And that’s the first one, that’s before our relationship, that’s before our marriage.”

Cosby has previously spoken about the development of her relationship with Robert Sr. Their relationship began as a friendship but later turned into a romance.
