Upcoming Batman: Arkham Shadow is a VR-exclusive title, and users who purchase the Meta Quest 3 headset or the recently announced Quest 3S headset will receive the game for free.

You can still get it Arkham Shadow in the Meta Quest Store for $50 and add it to your wishlist before it releases on October 22. Otherwise, players who purchase any Quest 3 or 3S headset anytime between September 25 (today) and April 30, 2025 will receive a copy of the game.

The Quest 3S headset, which went on pre-order after being announced at Meta Connect 2024, will cost $300 and will start shipping on October 15. That means users who want to jump in Arkham: Shadow you’ll have to wait a week before activating the game. If your headset is activated, you can get your copy when the game releases on October 22. Buyers will also receive three months of Meta Quest+.

Arkham Shadow was announced in May as an exclusive title for Quest 3 from Camouflaj, creators Iron Man VRand in-house publisher Meta Oculus Studios, along with developers Rocksteady Studios, creators of the Batman: Arkham series. It is a prequel set before Arkham Asylum and features a young Batman facing off against the Rat King.

Much like the other Arkham games, which pioneered the hack-and-slash gameplay that would go on to have a huge impact on the third-person action genre, Arkham Shadow will feature stunning, direct gameplay — but from Batman’s first-person perspective. The game will also feature Harvey Dent, Dr. Harleen Quinzel (assuming it’s before she transforms into Harley Quinn), Jim Gordon, Barbara Gordon, and more.

This is the first DC game to be released after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League from Rocksteady earlier this year. The game released to negative reviews and even worse sales, but it became a huge bomb for Warner Bros. Entertainment.
