The world’s best golfers will come to Royal Montreal Golf Club for the 2024 Presidents Cup. The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, preceding the first round of competition.

The festivities are a chance to showcase the best players on the international stage, with the most recognizable faces in the game competing for the coveted trophy, which was won by the Americans in 2022.

When and how will viewers be able to follow the events in Montreal, where the US team will face an international team that will include the world’s best non-European golfers?

Find out in this preview.

Date: Thursday, September 26

Time: 30 minutes before first tee time (approximately 11:35 a.m. EST)

The United States remained undefeated on home soil in 2022, defeating the international team at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte.

Then-rookie Scottie Scheffler led the U.S. team, with Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay close behind.

Scheffler’s inconsistent performance in this event (0-3-1) begs the question: if Scheffler struggles again at this stage, will the national team be able to capitalize and claim their first victory since 1998?

There are also many questions on that side of the competition, with no obvious player to counter Scheffler or Schauffele. While the Americans have one or two players they can count on with full confidence, the international team has a handful of experienced players who can play well but are not certainties.

But Scheffler is a better player than he was the last time he was at the helm of Team USA. He won his first FedEx Cup and became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win seven Tour titles.

The 28-year-old is at the peak of his career and is unlikely to repeat his debut performance in the Presidents Cup.

Americans are Favoritewith more roster depth than their counterparts. Max Homa was 4-0 in 2022, while Cantlay and Schauffele have 6-3 records in previous events.

Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott and Jason Day all have significant experience but also losing records in the event. South Koreans Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im are the only members of the international team with winning records.

On paper, the Americans should have won their tenth consecutive Presidents Cup.
