Foo Fighters canceled their Soundside Music Festival appearance following the Dave Grohl controversy

Foo Fighters withdrew from the music festival days earlier amid controversy surrounding frontman Dave Grohl, who recently admitted fathering a child outside his 21-year marriage.

On Thursday, the rock band issued a brief statement that it “will no longer perform” at the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Conn., next weekend as planned.

“More information can be found on the festival website,” the band said. No reason for the cancellation was given.

A Foo Fighters representative declined to comment.

The band was scheduled to headline Sunday’s Soundside Music Festival. The festival announced on X that Jack White and Greta Van Fleet will now headline the day. “Unfortunately, Foo Fighters have announced that they will no longer be performing this weekend,” the festival said.

Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters performs on July 5, 2024 in Denmark.

Noah Kahan, Boyz II Men, Bleachers, Norah Jones and Teddy Swims are among the artists who will also perform at the Soundside Music Festival, which begins on Saturday.

The last-minute cancellation came more than two weeks after Grohl, 55, revealed in a statement on September 10 that he “recently became the father of a daughter who was born out of my marriage.”

The rocker has been married to Jordyn Blum since 2003, and they have three daughters, ages 10 to 18. In his statement, he said he planned to be a “loving and supportive parent” to the child.

“I love my wife and my children and I am doing everything in my power to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,” he said. “We appreciate your concern for all the children involved as we move forward together.”

Foo Fighters, who wrapped up their Everything or Nothing at All Tour last month, does not currently list any upcoming tour dates on their website.
