Presley spent the last years of her life working From here to the Great Unknown. The memoir, which will be released on October 8, will include an audiobook narrated by Roberts.

“Lisa Marie Presley’s one-of-a-kind memoir deserves equally exceptional talent, and we are thrilled that Julia Roberts has lent her extraordinary gifts to this powerful production,” Amanda D’Acierno, president and publisher of Penguin Random House Audio Publishing Group, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Julia’s performance adds depth to this heartfelt mother-daughter story. Combined with narration by Riley Keough and intimate memories from Lisa Marie’s personal tapes, this audiobook promises to be an unforgettable experience for listeners.”

In a statement, Roberts said she was happy to lend her voice to this moving memoir.

“I was very moved by Lisa Marie’s amazing memories,” she said. “It was truly an honor to give voice to her wild and beautiful life, and I so appreciate that Riley entrusted me with her mother’s story.”

Presley’s daughter, Riley Keough, thinks Roberts is the perfect person to read her mother’s book.

“I’m so excited for Julia to be a part of this and read my mother’s voice,” she said. “I couldn’t imagine anyone more perfect to share her story with the world.”

Keough’s voice will also narrate portions of her mother’s audiobook. In 2022, Presley asked her daughter for help in finishing the book. After her death in early 2023, Keough reviewed the tapes her mother had recorded and used them to complete the memoir. He hopes the book and its accompanying audiobook will cut through the tabloid coverage of Presley. He wants to present his mother as she really was.

“What she wanted to do in her memoir, and I hope I was able to finish it, was to go beyond the image of her in the magazine headline and reveal the core of who she was,” Keough told People. “To turn her into a three-dimensional human being: the best mother, a wild child, a fierce friend, an unsung artist, honest, funny, traumatized, joyful, grieving, everything she has been throughout her extraordinary life. I want to give my mother a voice in a way that escaped her in life.”

The book details the life of Lisa Marie Presley

Because she was Elvis’s daughter, Presley was in the public eye from the moment she was born. The outlets constantly covered her ill-fated love affairs and relationships with family members. In her memoir, Presley wanted to share her side of the story.

Keough’s involvement in completing the book will provide greater insight into the relationship between mother and daughter.

“This extraordinary book features the voices of Lisa Marie and Riley, a mother and daughter communicating through the brink of death, trying to heal each other,” we read on the book’s official website. “Deeply moving and deeply revealing, From here to the Great Unknown this is a book unlike any other – the last words of the only child of a true legend.
