Melania Trump blames Democrats and media for ‘fueling toxic atmosphere’ towards husband | US news

Melania Trump accused Democrats and the mainstream media of “fueling a toxic atmosphere” and empowering those who “want to do harm” to her husband.

In his first interview in over two years former first lady she said that she considered her husband’s survival after two attempts on his life to be “miracles”, then called on the media and the opposition to stop calling Donald Trump “a threat to democracy.”

She said: “Is it really shocking that all this blatant violence is directed against my husband? Especially as we hear opposition party leaders and the mainstream media branding him a threat to democracy and calling him terrible names?

“This has to end.”

After the first assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, Trump stated that a staff member had notified her of the shooting.

She said she was in New York when the second attempted attack on Trump’s golf course in Florida took place earlier this month and was able to watch television coverage of the scene.

“The guys who were with him were fantastic. “I think both of those events were truly miracles,” she said of her husband, who survived both assassination attempts.

“I think there was something watching over him… It’s almost like (the country) really needed him.”

The pre-recorded interview with Fox News was released after the former first lady was largely absent from the campaign trail and broke norms by not speaking at the event. Republican National Convention.

During one of the few meetings related to her husband’s White House bid, Mrs. Trump published X days after the first attempt on Trump’s life in which she urged people to “look beyond” politics.

“We are all human and fundamentally, instinctively, we want to help each other,” she said in a July 14 statement.

“Let us remember that when it comes time to look beyond the left and the right, beyond the red and blue, we all come from families whose passion is to fight together for a better life while we are here in this earthly reality.”

Having “thick skin” and not having any more children

While promoting its novelty titled memoirwhich is scheduled to premiere on October 8, Mrs. Trump said in an interview that working in the fashion industry prepared her for her role as first lady.

“The fashion industry is glamorous, but at the same time very difficult,” she said.

“Everyone is judging you… so it can be a mean world too… nothing has prepared me for this world better than fashion. It gives you a thick skin.”

The Slovenian-born former model met Trump in 1998, and in 2005 they married. A year later, their son Barron was born.

When asked by Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt if she and her husband had ever talked about expanding their family, the former first lady revealed that the Republican presidential candidate tried to convince her to have more children.

“I’ve always gotten by with one,” she said. “Donald encouraged us to have more of them. And I replied that I was perfectly fine with that because it’s a very busy life and I know how busy he is. And I’m responsible for everything.

“So that’s why it’s just perfect.”
