Lady Gaga thought her April Fool’s Day marriage proposal was a joke

Lady Gaga confessed that she thought her fiancé Michael Polansky was joking when he proposed to her on April Fool’s Day.

The American singer and actress, 38, said she wanted to keep the engagement a “secret” but was heard introducing entrepreneur and investor Polanski as her fiancé earlier this year during the Paris Olympics.

In a recent interview with US Vogue, Gaga said her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, started it after she met Polansky through her philanthropic work.

She told The Graham Norton Show: “He proposed on April 1 and I thought he was joking.

“Later, when we went to the Olympics, we were filmed greeting the Prime Minister and the camera caught me saying, ‘This is my fiancé.’ I wanted to keep it a secret.”

Gaga, who performed at the Olympic opening ceremony, also talked about her latest acting role, in which she played Harley Quinn, Joker’s love interest in Todd Phillips’ film “Joker: Folie a Deux.”

She said: “I tried to root it in reality and create Arthur’s love.”

A sequel to the 2019 film Joker and whose title is a reference to the French term “the madness of two,” the film is a musical fantasy in which Arthur Fleck, aka Joker, and Quinn fall in love Arkham Asylum in Gotham City.

They are known for their toxic romantic relationships in the comics and movie trailers where Phoenix and Gaga sing and dance together

The Born This Way singer had this to say about recording all the music live: “Joaquin (Phoenix) didn’t like it at first, which was difficult, but he pulled through and did a phenomenal job. It was really fun and interesting, and looking back on it might be the most vulnerable singing I’ve ever done.”

Recently announcing that a 13-track “accompanying” album to the film will be titled Harlequin, she said: “It’s all an original production, but inspired by the character. It can’t be defined and the songs reflect that.”

The series also features American actress Demi Moore with her dog Pilaf.

The 61-year-old actress talked about her latest film, the body horror film “The Substance,” in which she plays a fading Hollywood beauty who turns back time with a new drug.

She said: “It is almost impossible to fully describe it because it deals with serious topics.

“The best way I can sum it up is like The Picture of Dorian Gray meets Death meets a Jane Fonda workout movie.”

Irish actor Colin Farrell talks about his latest appearance in Batman spin-off ‘Penguin’.

He said: “It’s a huge relief that it’s already out in the open and people think everything is OK. If you’re shallow and insecure like me, you expect a slap in the face, so a rub on the back is definitely better.”

Farrell wears heavy dentures, which he said made him “a little miserable and angry.”

Comedian and actor Richard Ayoade is promoting his new book and the series stars Jack Savoretti and Miles Kane.

The Graham Norton Show will air on BBC One on September 27 at 10.40pm and also on BBC iPlayer.
