The American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special Event will be star-studded.

On Thursday, September 26, CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced that the special – taking place in place of the regular American Music Awards ceremony to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary – will feature Brad Paisley, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Green Day, Jennifer Hudson, Kane Brown, Mariah Carey, RAYE and Stray Kids.

Additionally, special guests and announcers of the event will be Carrie Underwood, who has won 17 AMAs in her career, multiple award winners Gloria Estefan and Jennifer Lopez, and five-time AMA host Jimmy Kimmel.

CBS described the show as “an evening celebrating half a century of groundbreaking music, iconic moments, unforgettable performances and rich pop culture history.” The two-hour special will air on Sunday, October 6 – making it the first AMA event since the last American Music Awards in November 2022. Regular AMAs will air in May 2025, CBS added.

According to a press release, each performer intends to honor the achievements of previous AMA award winners.
