The Broker-Carrier Summit continues to revolutionize the industry through relationships

Logistics leaders often talk about relationships as one of the key drivers of the industry. In particular, strong partnerships between brokers and carriers can help keep the entire supply chain strong, while weak partnerships can cripple it. It is therefore counterintuitive that most communications between brokers and carriers end up simply discussing rates and billing details over the phone or email.

A few years ago, Dan Lindsey, founder, chairman and managing director of Broker-Carrier Summit, set out to change the way brokers and carriers connect. The result of this mission was a biannual, multi-day event whose effects lasted much longer.

“It started as a one-day symposium,” Lindsey said. “It quickly turned into a grassroots movement in the industry trying to make real positive change.”

The Broker-Carrier Summit program is designed specifically to foster connections between brokers and carriers that extend beyond the conference.

The fall event is scheduled for October 23-25 in Fort Worth, Texas. The program features an extensive lineup of speakers including Beta Consulting Group CEO Trey Griggs, Integrity Global Logistics CEO Melanie Patterson, industry veteran Andrew Silver, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Director Ken Riddle and many others.

In addition to speakers, the Broker-Carrier Summit offers unique and meaningful networking opportunities, from a two-person golf tournament to speed dating. The event will also feature educational labs and networking lunches for participants transporting various types of cargo, including an event specifically for flatbed carriers and brokers.

Adam Wingfield, director of carrier outreach at Broker-Carrier Summit, will co-host one of these learning labs – focused on point-to-point transportation – with Truckpedia co-founder Justin Lu. Wingfield, who is also the founder and managing director of Innovative Logistics Group, took on the leadership role at the summit after experiencing the magic of the event firsthand.

“I had the opportunity to attend the recent Broker-Carrier Summit and was simply blown away by the interaction and vision of Dan and the team,” he said.

By creating a space where brokers and carriers can truly connect, the Broker-Carrier Summit leadership team aims to empower small carriers to refine their business strategies while helping small brokers build their carrier networks.

Together, these brokers and carriers build a better supply chain.

“We have stakeholders from all areas of the freight industry uniting around the view that brokers and carriers need to work better together,” Lindsey said. “If brokers and carriers can get our relationships right, everyone in every area of the industry will do better.”
