Schiaparelli brings his latest surreal campaign to the streets of Paris

Johnny Dufort

Now that it’s fashion week, it can only mean one thing – the products presented last season are finally hitting the market.

With the arrival of the ready-to-wear collection for fall/winter 2024, Schiaparelli presented a new, special series of photos taken by photographer Johnny Dufort. As it turns out, these photos were taken immediately after last spring’s show, when Dufort followed the models around Paris and captured them in fragments.

A statement was released that provided context for this unique session. It read: “It was about 8 p.m. when they went out to Place Vendôme after the performance of Schiaparelli. Even though it had been sunny all day, the night was starting to get a bit chilly, but they didn’t care. They wanted to keep laughing, playing and jumping some more. They posed for Johnny: one in front of the mythical Vendome column, wearing a sparkling gown, a nod to surrealism, that sparkled in the headlights of passing cars. The Mythical Place, expertly designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, was a sensational backdrop at this late hour. This moment of freedom ends in the windows of Place Vendome 21, Schiaparelli’s historic home, when a mysterious shadow emerges, out of breath, running up the stairs, clutching an Anatomy bag like a surreal banner against a background of shocking pink flowers. The tete-à-tête between the striking dresses and the English photographer’s flash lasted only a few minutes, long enough to bring out the highlights of this ready-made collection. Flash in the night.

Gisele Bündchen model New Stefano Pilati x Zara collection

Saskia Ławaks

We’ve recently seen a trend of luxury fashion designers partnering with retailers to release ready-to-wear collections, and the latest of these is Stefano Pilati, whose long-awaited collaboration with Zara (and first launch under his own name) will be hitting the web and stores on October 3.

We first saw the clothes earlier this week in a campaign (seen here) that featured Pilati himself, posing alongside supermodel Gisele Bündchen. Steven Meisel photographed them wearing several chic pieces from their upcoming menswear and womenswear collections, including fun oversized outerwear, fruit-print skirt suits, rich leather accessories, and more.

Meanwhile, Pilati celebrated the upcoming premiere by co-hosting a cocktail party in Paris with Marta Ortega Pérez, attended by, among others, Bündchen, as well as superstars like Kate Moss, Iris Law, Pat McGrath, Luca Guadagnino and more.

Simon Porte Jacquemus is the curator of the exhibition for Christie’s

On Friday, October 4, at 11 a.m. ET, a new exhibition featuring 70 works by sculptor François-Xavier Lalanne will open at Christie’s Rockefeller Center. Curated and designed by Simon Porte Jacquemus, all of these pieces come from the personal collection of Lalanne’s daughter Dorothée, and the auction will take place later in the week on October 10.

Lalanne and his wife Claude had a huge impact on 20th century sculpture with their realistic works that contradicted the dominant abstract art of the time. Under the pseudonym Les Lalanne, the pair became particularly famous for their animal depictions, and their work was exhibited around the world.

You can browse the entire collection that will be on display at Christie’s here. The auction will begin on October 10 at 11:00 a.m. EST.

Jony Ive is making his first outerwear venture with love from Moncler

On Tuesday, September 24, the official announcement of the LoveFrom, Moncler collaboration was released, marking LoveFro founder Jony Ive’s first-ever venture into outerwear.

Ive, who was previously Apple’s chief design officer, founded LoveFrom in 2019 with Mark Newson, which they say is “a creative collective of designers, architects, musicians, filmmakers, writers, engineers and artists.”

In the latest alliance, Ive touches on this designer aspect, collaborating with Moncler’s Remo Ruffini to create pieces in vibrant pastel colors that are made in part from Moncler’s new high-quality recycled nylon.

“Who I work with has become more important to me than what I am working on,” Ive said in a statement. “Our collaboration was wonderfully simple and joyful. We have learned a lot from each other and I am especially happy that this modest collection is the beginning of a long-term collaboration.” Available from October 10, you can buy the new collection here.
