Dakota Cruisers of Minot celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

Founded in 1994, the group has approximately 700 or more members – life members and permanent members.

George Masters is one of the founders and first president of Dakota Cruisers. He has since served as the group’s president.

The group has been touring Broadway for about four years. Members also participate in various events in Minot and the surrounding area. They collect money for scholarships for graduates of local automotive universities.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and many people were bored of staying at home, Dakota Cruisers organized the Rolling Car Show in April 2020 to brighten people’s days. The vehicles traveled along Broadway and then traveled in groups, passing social services, nursing homes, etc.

Because the Rolling Car Show was such a success, with just under 150 vehicles participating, the car club began rolling on Broadway. Weekly cruises in 2020 were dedicated to specific groups, including law enforcement, frontline workers fighting the pandemic and educators.

According to an article published in The Minot Daily News by Masters and the late Ralph Llewellyn, a member of the Dakota Cruisers, the highest number of vehicles on one of these cruises was 311.

This year, as in previous years, from spring through September, the Dakota Cruisers met on Wednesday evenings for their weekly Broadway cruises at the U-Haul parking lot in southeast Minot. We invite all types of vehicles and years to participate. The group held its 30th season finale with a series of events from September 13-15.
