Amitabh Bachchan Reveals Shocking Behind-the-Scenes Story from Iconic “Yaarana” Song

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan recently shared an amusing behind-the-scenes anecdote during an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepatirecalling how he endured real electric shocks while filming the famous song “Sara Zamana Husn Ka Deewana” from his 1981 blockbuster Yaarana.

Back then, technology wasn’t as advanced, and the lights on the jacket were powered by a wire connected to an electrical source.

Bachchan had to wear the entire string of lights wrapped around his body, with the wire running from his leg and plugged directly into the main switchboard.

He recounted a humorous story about his iconic “bijli wala jacket” (the electric jacket).

“The moment the electricity flowed, I started dancing—not because I wanted to, but because I was getting electric shocks!” said Big B

With a smile, he admitted that the unintended jolts made him “dance” – though not according to the original choreography.

Fans are once again reminded of Bachchan’s dedication and resilience in bringing his iconic performances to life!

During the show, contestant Swapn shared his admiration for the film *Yaarana*, calling it one of his favorites—a movie he could watch repeatedly. He asked Mr. Bachchan about his versatility as an actor, noting his exploration of various genres throughout his career.

In a playful reply, Amitabh Bachchan joked, “Hum toh Naukri ke chakkar mein hote hain, bas Naukri mil jaye!” (I’m just trying to get a job!). He then reminisced about the iconic song “Sara Zamana,” revealing that he suggested filming it in a stage.

The newly opened Netaji Subhas Chandra Stadium in Kolkata was massive, and they planned to shoot during the day. However, around 50,000 to 60,000 fans showed up to watch, despite the stadium’s seating capacity being only 12,000 to 15,000. This overwhelming turnout forced them to halt filming and leave.

Later, Amitabh Bachchan proposed filming the scene at night, discreetly, without drawing any attention. After spending a few days back in Mumbai, they quietly returned to Kolkata for the night shoot, aiming to avoid crowds. The director came up with a clever idea to place candles in the seats, creating the illusion of a full audience. That night, they successfully completed the shoot for the song.
