Atlus is “actively working” to improve the Metaphor Refantazio demo on Steam

Devoted Atlus fans were delighted with the upcoming release Metaphor: ReFantazio it was announced that it would receive a lengthy free demo on Steam. For PC gamers, ReFantazio is one of the most anticipated games of the year, coming straight from the minds of the Persona series. However, since the free demo hit Steam, more than a few performance issues have cropped up, prompting developers at Studio Zero to recognize the issues and promise to fix them quickly.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is a wildcard in this year’s game release schedule. To say that the upcoming JRPG is highly anticipated is a true understatement, as fans of the Persona series are game when it comes to their franchise and its new releases. While Metaphor isn’t technically a Persona game, many consider it to be Persona 6 since the main creators of Persona 3, 4, and 5 are at the helm of ReFantazio.

That’s why when a free demo of Metaphor: ReFantazio was released on Steam on Wednesday, September 25, fans couldn’t wait to try it out. This long, eight-hour demo is quite a generous offer, mainly because your save will carry over to the main game once it’s fully released.

While the free PC demo excited fans, many were disappointed when they started playing the game for the first time. Performance issues prevented the trial from running. The problems were so obvious that on Friday, September 27, the developers issued a statement regarding the game’s performance on Steam. In a statement, they thank players for trying out the demo, but note that they are “aware of an optimization issue on Steam and are actively working to resolve it.”

For JRPG fans planning to play on Steam, we hope the issues will be fixed before the game’s full launch. Considering how many major titles have been released due to dodgy performance issues, fans may be spooked by this ominous sign.

Currently, there is no specific release date for the demo version patch.
