Kate wonders what to do after realizing what happened with the British Prime Minister

Diplomat Season 1 left viewers in suspense after the explosion. Now, in Season 2, it looks like Kate is not only dealing with the aftermath, but also with her theory about what really happened with the British warship attack.

As showrunner Debora Cahn told Entertainment Weekly, she’s “pretty sure it’s (Trowbridge) the Prime Minister,” played by Rory Kinnear. “So how do you prove this if you are in the UK?”

For Kate, this is a complex situation, given the “unique” connection between the two nations. “One of the unique things about the U.S.-UK relationship is that we share intelligence,” Cahn said. “So we made an agreement not to spy on each other. And even if we wanted to, it would be really difficult because we share everything.

“So how do we prove it? And if you prove it, what the hell are you going to do with it? Season 1 was (about) about building relationships with people. But can you still trust them?”

Meanwhile, Russell described the new version as follows: “It raises the temperature. What’s funny about this season is the realization that it may be the people closest to you who may be involved in something nefarious.”
