7,000 km car rally from Ladakh to Arunachal to mark the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force

Indian Air Force Anniversary: A 7,000-km road rally from Thoise in Ladakh, one of the highest air force stations in the world, to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh will be held on October 8 to mark the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Ministry of Defense said in a statement .

Before the formal conclusion of the ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ rally in Thoise, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will give a warm farewell to the rally at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on October 1. The rally will culminate in Tawang on October 29.

The car rally will end on October 8

The IAF was established on October 8, 1932. The IAF will celebrate its 92nd Uprising Day on October 8. The grand car rally from Thoise to Tawang is being organized to mark the 92nd anniversary of IAF, it said.

It will be flown out of Thoise, one of the highest air force stations in the world at 3,068 meters above sea level, on October 8. The rally will culminate on October 29 in Tawang.

“Fifty-two air warriors, including women, will take the wheel during this mega car rally, which will also be attended by former Air Force chiefs at various levels,” the ministry said in a statement.

What is the purpose of the rally?

According to the ministry, the aim of the rally organized by the IAF in association with the veterans of the Uttarakhand War Memorial is to raise public awareness about the glorious history of the IAF; heroic deeds of air warriors in various wars and rescue operations; and attract youth to serve their country.

The air warriors will make 16 stops along the way and interact with students from various colleges and universities. The ministry said the IAF adventure cell is conducting and coordinating the rally.
