He earns 73% more than Sarfira and yet it is a disaster

It’s really a bad time for Akshay Kumar as none of his films are shining brightly at the ticket counters. After disasters like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira, the actor delivered another cheesy romance in the form of Khel Khel Mein. Yes, the film has maintained a lower standard, but the numbers haven’t made much of a difference as they don’t live up to the standards Akshay set for himself many years ago. Read on to find out where its Independence Day premiere ranks at the global box office!

KKM was released on August 15 following a clash with Stree 2 led by Shraddha Kapoor and Vedaa John Abraham. Upon its release, the film received decent reviews from critics, but its appeal was limited to a limited section of the urban audience. Moreover, it was greatly affected by the storm on Stree 2. As a result, it failed to achieve a decent total.

Khel Khel Mein started the Independence Day well and although it initially suffered defeat at the hands of Veda John Abraham, it later emerged victorious and performed much better than Veda. In India, the film is still released in select locations and although it earns ₹1 to 2 lakh per day, its ratings remain stable. However, this week is expected to be the last week of KKM in theaters. Abroad it is a failure and is already over.

Khel Khel Mein made money at the Indian box office 40.25 crores net in 45 days. Including taxes, it equals 47.49 crores gross. It made money 10 crores gross abroad. Combining Indian and international grosses, the worldwide box office collection is 57.49 crores gross. As the film wraps up in theaters, its budget will close below the Rs 58 crore mark.

For the uninitiated, Akshay Kumar’s Sarfir has done business 33.17 crores gross worldwide. For comparison, Khel Khel Mein has a 73.31% advantage, but there is nothing to brag about because the overall result is a disaster.
