FIFA announces Seattle as the host city for the 2025 Club World Cup

SEATTLE – Seattle will now host major global soccer events in the coming years.

FIFA announced Saturday that Seattle’s Lumen Field stadium has been selected to host the 2025 Club World Cup.

The selection comes after the Emerald City was also chosen as the location for FIFA matches in the 2026 World Cup.

What is the FIFA Club World Cup?

“The expanded 32-team international tournament will take place next summer across the United States and will feature clubs from all confederations to determine the best club team in the world,” says Sounders FC Communications.

The Sounders qualified for the 2025 Cup after becoming the first team to win the Concacaf Championship in 2022.

When is the FIFA Club World Cup held?

The competition will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025.

The Sounders say this is the first time in the club’s 50-year history that the club is competing against a UEFA or CONMEBOL team.

Sounders FC CEO and Director of Soccer Craig Waibel commented: “It’s an honor to represent Seattle and American soccer on this stage. Our team is excited and ready for the challenge.”
