ESPN Chronicles Some of Basketball’s Greatest Players Featured in ‘Clutch: The NBA Playoffs’ Premiering Next Week (EXCLUSIVE)

ESPN has picked up an eight-part original series, “Clutch: The NBA Playoffs,” that chronicles the final 2024 NBA Playoffs through the personal and professional stories of players including Zion Williamson, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, PJ Washington and Jaylen Brown. The ESPN Original series will premiere on October 7 on ESPN2 at 11:30 p.m. EST, followed by an hour later on ESPN+.

“The NBA is competitive and dramatic, and with ‘Clutch,’ we’re excited to show fans a new side of an unforgettable postseason,” said Lindsay Rovegno, vice president of production, ESPN Originals. “This series provides a unique perspective on some of the game’s most fascinating players, showcasing their drive, resilience and passion in the pursuit of championship. It’s about more than basketball – it’s about legacy and we’re proud to tell these stories in a way we know audiences will love.”

The premiere episode of “Changing of the Guard” looks at the next generation of players like Williamson and De’Aaron Fox and how they stack up against aging NBA legends like LeBron James and Steph Curry. “Zion challenges LeBron in high-stakes games, while Fox takes on the Warriors dynasty as he looks to create his own legacy in nearby Sacramento. Can these two players live up to the standards set by their heroes?” reads the logline.

This episode will also re-air on ESPN on October 9 at 7 p.m. ET. Episode 2, “Foundation First,” will premiere immediately after 8 p.m. ET on ESPN, followed by Episode 3, “Killer Instinct,” which will air at 9 p.m. ET.

Episode 4, “Hunter vs. Hunted,” will premiere on October 13 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN, followed by episode 5, “Make Your Name,” premiering the same evening at 5 p.m. ET. Episode 6, “Redemption,” will air on October 16 at 7 p.m. ET, and episode 7, “Beyond The Game,” will air on ESPN on October 20 at 1 p.m. ET. The series then concludes at 2 p.m. ET with episode 8, “Finally.”

Here is the log for the latest episode: “After six grueling weeks of playoff basketball, the NBA Finals are upon us. Celtics duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have their sights set on their city’s 18th championship banner, aided by veteran leadership in Al Horford, who may have just one last chance to win the title. Meanwhile, in his inaugural Finals appearance, transcendent talent Luka Dončić struggles to keep up with Boston’s explosive offense.”

In all cases, the series will stream on ESPN+ immediately following their linear premiere.

“Clutch: The NBA Playoffs” is produced by ESPN+ in association with Fulwell 73 Productions and ThreeFourTwo Productions. Ben Winston and Ben Turner are executive producers of Fulwell 73.
