Lansing’s Olive Burger Festival is Saturday. What you need to know

LANSING − The second annual Olive Burger Festival, a celebration of the salty but delicious marriage of burger and olive sauce, is Saturday.

The event, organized by local group Lansing Foodies and held at Jackson Field, promises to be a day-long affair filled with plenty of olive burger creations from area restaurants. The festival will also feature live music, an olive burger eating contest, games, and activities.

Here’s everything you need to know if you’re planning to attend.

The basics

For the second year, the festival will be held at Jackson Field, home of minor league baseball team the Lansing Lugnuts. The venue, at 505 E. Michigan Ave., is expected to host up to 4,000 people during the festival, from noon to 5 pm on Saturday.

Just how many burgers can you try?

There will be 19 food vendors at the festival, including 13 selling olive burgers. Joe-Lee’s Crosswinds Cafe, Dagwood’s Tavern & Grill, Hard Knocks Food Truck, Eaton Rapids Craft Company, Gravity Smokehouse, The State Room Restaurant, VEG-N, People’s Kitchen, One North Kitchen & Bar, Two Guys Nomadic Grill, Lansing Brewing Company , Abie’s Bar and Cork & Ladle are serving burgers. Slice by Saddleback will also be serving its olive burger pizza.

If you want variety don’t worry. Vendors will be offering other dishes in addition to burgers. Beverages available will include beer, wine and soft drinks.

What other attractions will be featured?

“Our goal is to showcase the olive burger while highlighting Lansing’s vibrant community spirit,” said Erin Brains, Lansing Foodies’ president and event coordinator.

Attendees can expect live music, arts and crafts, kids games, face painting, “roving entertainers,” an Olive Burger eating contest and drag performances.
