One of the most beloved manga of recent times, Jujutsu Kaisen, concluded this month with its 44th issue by Shueisha’s Shonen Jump magazine.

In the latest issue, writer Gege Akutami revealed that the manga currently has 100 million copies in circulation, unsold but containing digital copies. The official manga website did not clarify whether this number was for the entire world or specifically for Japan.

To announce the milestone of 100 million manga copies, Akutami published what may be the last manga illustration featuring Yuji Itadori. The magazine also made several other project announcements to commemorate the end of the series. The 28th volume of the manga will be released on October 5, and the 28th and 29th volumes will be released on December 5. The 30th volume will be the last volume without a release date.

Moreover, the October 15 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump 46 will feature a form allowing readers to receive holo-character sheets with cover photos of manga volumes 0 to 30. For fans expecting something from the manga, Anime News Network reports that a Hidden Inventory/Premature Death story guide will be released on October 4.

Although the manga ended this year, the coming year will see its celebration as an exhibition will be held in Osaka in April 2025 and the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death story will be compiled into a movie next year. The anime-adapted manga Jujutsu Kaisen also has an upcoming season that will be based on the story of Culling Game.

Internet users react to a new, groundbreaking achievement

Netizens had mixed feelings about the reveal of Jujutsu Kaisen, while fans were happy about the new milestone, but overshadowed by the fact that it was the end of the manga. Users were disappointed because it wasn’t the manga announcement they were hoping for.

The user wrote on X: “Gege, this is not a JJK2 announcement.” A second user wrote: “Gege didn’t even give his domain a name.!” A third user complained, “Yuji looks terrible, Gege wtf,” referring to the new illustration. Another user wrote, “Oh I know his ass is celebrating because he doesn’t have to draw jjk characters ever again.”

Some were happy with the manga, as one user wrote: “I will miss Yuji. Thank you Gege Sensei for creating one of the best heroes in all media,” while another user wrote, “I really cooked ffs.”
