George James, 65, was arrested in connection with the shooting and booked into the Dallas County Jail Friday afternoon, where he had remained since Monday morning.

Jail records show he was being held on bail totaling $750,000: $500,000 for murder and $250,000 for aggravated assault. It was not immediately clear whether the assault charge listed in the jail log was an initial charge that was later changed to murder after the younger James’ death, or an unrelated charge.

It was unclear whether he had a lawyer.

Police did not release any additional details about the shooting and would not say whether the men – who share the same surname – were related, saying the department does not have a “practice of confirming or disclosing relationships.”

The investigation is ongoing.
