Middle Tennessee Old Hickory Lake Phone Disconnections: What to Know

A release from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District said telephone service to the Old Hickory Lock and the Lake Office and Visitor Center has been temporarily disabled, and the planned service interruption may extend into October as contractors work to relocate underground utilities public.

The main telephone numbers were disconnected around noon on September 20 and are expected to be out of service for up to two weeks, the statement said.

If they need to contact someone, people can reach the lock at (615) 417-4942 and the Lake Office and Visitor Center at (615) 475-7161.

The visitor center remains closed to the public due to extensive damage caused by a December 2023 tornado, but officials say some business is by appointment only.

“We anticipate a contractor will be on site in the coming weeks to begin clearing the Rockland Recreation Area of the hundreds of downed trees and debris scattered throughout the area,” Freddie Bell, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District operations area manager, said in the release.

For public safety reasons, Power Plant Road and Rockland Recreation Area also remain closed along the lake shoreline.
