The Columbus Blue Jackets show love to Gaudreau.

The NHL team, which includes the late hockey player Johnny Gaudreau, gathered to celebrate the second birthday of his daughter and widow Meredith Gaudreau. In a photo shared by Sarah Gudbranson, who is the wife of hockey player Erik Gudbranson, the athletes and their families are seen next to a giant sign on the lawn that reads: “Happy 2nd Birthday Noa!”

“Happy birthday, dear Noa,” Sarah Gudbranson wrote under the photo on September 30. “Sending lots of love from the Jackets family!”

Johnny Gaudreau left behind a two-year-old daughter, Noa, and a son, Johnny, born in February. Meredith Gaudreau is also pregnant with her third child.

Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau were murdered in late August by an alleged drunk driver. New Jersey State Police confirmed that the brothers died at the scene after they were struck while riding their bicycles in their hometown. According to NJ Advance Media, Johnny and Mathew Gaudreau were scheduled to attend his sister’s wedding the next day.

Matthew Gaudreau’s wife, Madeline Gaudreau, is also expecting their first child together.

Ten days before Johnny and Meredith Gaudreau’s daughter’s birthday, Meredith Gaudreau wondered how difficult the day would be for her.

“I’m going through a difficult time as Noa’s second birthday approaches. She loves watching dad videos before bed, especially her requests for ‘hockey dad’, which led me to these videos,” she wrote alongside an interview with the late hockey player talking about his daughter. “He loves watching him play and cheering for him on screen. His biggest fan. They loved each other very much. She even has the same freckle as him on her right cheek. And as he approaches two years of age, I’ve been told that their personalities are becoming more and more similar, and I can’t wait for that to continue.”

In the clip, the Jackets player described being a father as “awesome.” “It’s crazy how much you can love something in that one second.”

On Noa’s birthday, Meredith Gaudreau posted several Instagram stories from friends and family celebrating her baby girl.
