Pop star takes credit for ‘impeaching the mayor’ over Eric Adams corruption scandal

The story, unfolding as part of the federal investigation into New York Mayor Eric Adams (D-state), unfolded like something out of “The Godfather 3” as the sacrilegious pop star teased his connection to Hizzoner’s accusation.

The demotion of a Catholic priest may have been just part of the avalanche of allegations that hit officials in the five boroughs after Sabrina Carpenter filmed a scandalous music video in a Brooklyn church.

At least that’s the suggestion she made during an appearance at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, where she asked fans, “Should we talk about how I impeached the mayor?”

Late last year, it was reported that Carpenter’s music video for “Feather,” filmed at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Williamsburg, prompted Brooklyn Diocese Bishop Robert Brennan to demote Monsignor Jamie Giganitello, who had approved the project, which inspired the church to bless the altar again .

Now, with Adams facing federal indictments for alleged corruption, bribery and more, and with multiple officials in his administration also under investigation, NBC News reported that federal prosecutors are also looking into ties between the disgraced prelate and his longtime friend, Adams’ former chief of staff Frank Carone.

Curtis Śliwa, a radio host, activist and Republican mayoral candidate who lost to Adams in the 2021 election, summarized the connection between Gigantiello and Carone in a post on X that included a photo of the two men with the mayor during a trip to Rome earlier this year .

“Frank Carone and Monsignor Jaime are a story straight out of ‘The Godfather 3.’ I’ve known these two guys for years,” Śliwa said. “Laundry Jaime of Mount Carmel in Williamsburg owns homes in Florida and Westhampton. He is a priest with great wealth. Frank Carone just sold his $6 million mansion in Mill Basin. The two formed an LLC called DMC Capital Group, which is a large investor in the entity being sued for insurance fraud.

“It just so happens that these two were at the Vatican when Mayor Adams met with the Pope in May,” he continued. “The question I am investigating is: did these three amigos visit the Vatican ban in May? Continued………..”

Despite the investigation, NBC News reported that attorney Arthur Aidala, another friend of Gigantiello’s who was also his attorney, said, “As far as I know, Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello is not the target of any federal, state or city investigation. “

Aidala also happened to be represented by Adams’ top aide, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, who was welcomed to the United States after a trip to Japan with a federal subpoena after her cellphone was confiscated and her home was searched on Friday.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Diocese of Brooklyn appeared suspiciously confirming that Carpenter’s video was linked to the investigation, as a spokeswoman said: “The diocese is fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement in all investigations, including those relating to conduct at individual parishes or involving any priests.” “
