3 key trends that capture the “Ocean Girl” aesthetic.

3 key trends that capture the “Ocean Girl” aesthetic.

This month, designers presented their spring/summer 2025 ready-to-wear collections around the world during New York Fashion Week. We couldn’t help but notice one trend that was making a splash on the runways – and it’s a style we’ll be admiring all summer long. We call this the “ocean girl” aesthetic.

As of this writing, “Ocean Girl” has 273.8 million posts on TikTok, and the trend will continue to grow with what’s new this season. We’ve seen nautical stripes at Tommy Hilfiger and splashes of ocean blue on beach styles at Ralph Lauren. Khaite sent loose, draped dresses down the runway, while transparent mesh skirts dominated at Simone Rocha.

Aesthetics also extends to accessories. The new collection from crystal jewelry brand Swarovski – modeled by Karlie Kloss – echoes the aquatic nature of previous collections, showcasing unique stone cuts, ocean-inspired colors and sparkling pavé settings that shimmer in the sun.

So how do you introduce aesthetics into your wardrobe? We dive into jewelry, fashion and beauty trends to embrace this season’s ocean girl vibe.

1. Pops Of Blue

The “ocean girl” aesthetic is about channeling the calm energy of the sea, and nothing reflects this better than dressing in shades of blue. Start with accessories: Swarovski’s Millenia collection features pieces designed to evoke a flowing crystal river in shades of icy blue, aquamarine and sapphire. We love the subdued ombré earrings in blue and green, the tennis bracelet and the watch made of octagonal-cut crystals.

Complete the look with a cobalt blue hat, a linen dress with a cutout or light blue glasses. If you have any doubts, blue accents are the easiest way to follow the beach trend.

2. Shine and sparkle

As you go from the beach to the bar, complete your look with something that catches light at every step. Think sequined handbags, sparkly mini dresses and statement pavé jewelry. As seen in Swarovski’s new Sublima collection, the pavé style is composed of small, closely set crystals that create a shimmering effect reminiscent of the ocean’s surface.

Shiny accessories can liven up any outfit – especially when combined with relaxed, light dresses and radiant skin thanks to bronzers and illuminating serums.

3. Organic silhouettes

To channel your “ocean girl” energy, choose casual, airy silhouettes when dressing. Get inspired by the shapes and textures found at the ocean’s edge, such as smooth sea glass, curved shells and polished pebbles. Swarovski’s latest collections are inspired by the ebb and flow of nature, and global creative director Giovanna Engelbert plays with form, creating wave-like structures and organic movement. Style your fluid jewelry with different silhouettes to add depth and charm to your outfit.
