Katy Perry’s hip pouch dress is a luxurious, fashionable take on dadcore

There is no doubt that a little black dress is a wardrobe essential that will solve any sartorial problems and will be suitable for any occasion. We thought we’d seen every iteration of this style, so the silhouette is classic. That is, until Katy Perry attended the Balenciaga SS25 collection show during Paris Fashion Week last evening (Monday, September 30).

New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week had plenty of front row stars, but the French fashion house drew quite the crowd. From Nicole Kidman to Amelia Gray, current stars tried to stick to a moody color palette. Although no one could top Katy’s team.

Far from your average LBD, Katy’s dress appeared to be made entirely from hip bags. Like the duffel bag originally associated with middle-aged fathers who wore the accessory strapped to their waists during a day at the amusement park.

With multiple zippered pockets placed on the front of the design and canvas handles on the skirt, it was hard not to notice the similarity between the dress and the luggage. Even the halter neckline, upon closer inspection, was a leather, adjustable luggage strap with an additional handle on the top of the bodice. Katy completed the quirky look with over-the-knee black heels and wraparound black visor sunglasses.

Her long, dark hair was left loose in loose, wet waves, and bold eyeliner completed her beauty. And just like she had a QR code tattooed on her lower back during the VMAs, she did the same body art again, this time stamping a QR code on her hand.

Yes, only Katy Perry could pull off a luxurious and fashionable take on Dadcore.
