Champions League debutants destroy RB Salzburg

Shooters: Sima 24′, 70′, Camara 66′, Lage 75′

Brest made it two wins from two in their debut season in Europe, beating Salzburg by a stunning 4-0 scoreline.

Salzburg thought they had taken the lead when Samson Baidoo scored from a corner, but VAR ruled out an offside.

It was then Brest who took the lead in extra time when Andre Sima scored his second goal in two Champions League appearances, using enormous strength to hold off a defender and slot the ball past goalkeeper Janis Blaswich.

The French team were effective on counter-attacks throughout the evening and doubled their lead when the keeper’s long ball found its way into the box and Mahdi Camara was able to take advantage of shaky defense to finish well.

Just four minutes later, Brest had a third goal when the unmarked Sima struck from a deflected shot, taking advantage of more defensive chaos from Salzburg in the penalty area.

15 minutes before the end, the Champions League debutants scored their fourth goal when Mathias Pereira Lage hit another cross from the right from the edge of the penalty area.
