‘Welcome to Plathville’ Fans Don’t Believe Ethan’s Approach to Girls in Bars: ‘Paid Actresses’

TLC Welcome to Plathvillehas come a long way since its first season in 2019. Many of Kim and Barry’s children found their own way, and Plath’s oldest son, Ethan, finally closed the door on his marriage to Olivia.

Now, Ethan is back to dating, but some fans don’t believe his recent bar interaction was actually a real moment.

Ethan Plath is back in the dating game

Those who have been following Ethan and Olivia’s story know that their marriage had been in trouble for several years. Olivia didn’t get along with Kim, Ethan’s mother, which led the entire family to turn against Olivia. Eventually, however, Ethan’s brother and sister, Micah and Moriah, became close to Olivia; Olivia helped her two younger siblings escape their extremely sheltered childhood.

Eventually, things between Olivia and the rest of the family deteriorated, and she and Ethan learned that they had differences they couldn’t get over – for example, Olivia wanted to be free-spirited and Ethan wanted her to be the caregiver – so they decided to divorce. In the latest episode, Ethan was spotted at a bar with a friend, where he struck up a conversation with two women.

Ethan felt that the conversation seemed to be flowing and had plans to continue talking to one of the girls. However, some viewers of the program disagree with the claim that it was a real interaction.

“These two girls are straight up paid actresses… They saw the cameras and stayed,” one person wrote in a Reddit thread about the interaction.

“We are sure these are actors paid by TLC. They probably chose them,” another person added.

“What was surprising to me was how she came in with a microphone on. What are the chances?? What happiness!” someone else joked.

Some fans are happy that Ethan is “smiling” again.

Whether the interaction was real or not, some fans are just happy to see that Ethan seems to be moving on beyond Olivia’s stage of his life. Going to a bar to meet someone isn’t easy when you’re over a breakup, and Ethan seemed to be having a good time.

“Honestly, I’m glad Ethan is smiling again!! He smiled more this season than the entire previous one,” commented one of the fans.

Ethan and Olivia did try to make their marriage work; they had problems for a long time, but they did everything they could to overcome them. Ultimately, nothing worked out and they both started living their own lives. Olivia recently started dating someone new who, at least on the surface, seems to be a better match for her free spirit. Time will tell when Ethan meets his next potential wife.
