Air Chief Marshal Surat Singh takes over as the new head of the Eastern Air Command | External Affairs Defense Security News

An official statement said that Air Chief Marshal Surat Singh took up the appointment as the Air Commander-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force on Monday.

He is a graduate of the National Defense University and was commissioned in the IAF fighter stream on December 6, 1986. During his distinguished career, Air Chief Marshal Singh flew various Indian Air Force fighter aircraft, including MiG-21, MiG-29 and Su-30 MKI variants. Bangladesh.

He has extensive and diverse experience in operational flights, training and personnel assignments, and has flown more than 2,900 hours in fighter aircraft, the release said.

His academic achievements include graduating from the Command and Staff College in Australia and the National Defense College in Bangladesh.

He commanded a MiG-29 squadron, the Tactics and Air Combat Development Department (TACDE), the Air Defense Node and a fighter station.

Air Marshal Singh was also Director, Directorate of Air Staff Inspection (DASI), Air Headquarters, Air-l, South-West Air Command, Principal Director, Directorate of Personnel (Officers) and Directorate of Operations (Offensive) and Deputy Chief of Air Staff Operations (Space ).

Before taking up his current position, he was Director General for Air Operations at the Air Command.

In recognition of his outstanding service, Air Marshal Singh was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2006, Vishisht Seva Medal in 2011 and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2015.
